Yes. Net fishing is banned in the Maldives, so all MASVERIN tuna is 100% pole and line caught with zero by-catch, dolphin safe by design.

Yes. In other countries, some MSC certified tuna fisheries use purse seine or longline methods. Maldivian law bans these methods, so every MSC certified tuna fishery in the Maldives uses pole and line or hand line only. This means every can of MASVERIN comes from one by one, MSC certified tuna fisheries, with no nets, no bycatch, and sustainable hook and line fishing in every tin.

MASVERIN is canned within days of catching, using chilled, unfrozen tuna. The cans then travel to Australia by sea, a journey of around 30 to 35 days, before reaching stores and kitchens.

Skipjack naturally carries less mercury than larger tuna species, and MASVERIN lab tests every batch to keep levels well below Australian FSANZ guidelines.

The price reflects one-by-one fishing, rapid canning, gourmet flavour infusions and low-volume production—yet it still undercuts other premium canned tuna in its range. 

Keep unopened cans in a cool, dry cupboard. Refrigerate after opening and enjoy within 48 hours. Tuna in Olive Oil has a shelf life of up to 5 years from the date of production, and Mas-Huni up to 18 months. Always check the best before date on the can.

MASVERIN uses skipjack tuna, a smaller species known to have lower mercury levels. Food Standards Australia New Zealand advises that pregnant women can safely eat 2 to 3 serves of fish each week, and canned tuna is one of the fish that can be included.
